For those of you who maybe new to the coal industry -- or maybe it has been some time since you last attended the Rodeo -- we offer some general information on What the Rodeo is, Who attends this event, When this event is held, Where the Rodeo takes place, and How one would go about securing an invitation.

 

The Rodeo is an annual coal industry event sponsored by the Rodeo Committee. The Committee is made up of several coal producers and representatives from both the Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation railroads. The event is invitation-based for those companies and individuals that participate in the coal industry.

The Rodeo draws a variety of people from various lines of business in the coal industry. Primarily, producers, buyers, and transporters make up the attendees at this premier industry occasion.

The Rodeo is held annually on the last full weekend in September and runs from Thursday through Sunday. Future dates for the Rodeo are listed below. Invitations are usually sent out during the first week of July with a final event package sent out in mid-August. The Welcome Brochure includes many details regarding deadlines.

The Rodeo is held at The Greenbrier Hotel and Resort each year. The Greenbrier is a world renowned award-winning resort nestled on 6,500 acres in the scenic Allegheny Mountains in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The Greenbrier offers more than 50 activities, including three, 18-hole championship golf courses, a new golf academy, a gallery of fine shops and a host of traditional amenities which have distinguished this resort for more than 200 years.

Also please note that we purge our database for Rodeo invitations every three years. If it has been some time since you have attended, please let us know if you are interested in returning to The Greenbrier for a future Rodeo event.
